The village of Hawi features art galleries, specialty boutiques, and a variety of restaurants offering live entertainment in the evenings.
The town of Kapaau is located 3.2 miles from the Bamboo Cottage. The historic King Kamehameha
statue can be found in town along with more restaurants and shopping.
North Kohala is rich in hawaiian history, making it an ideal base to explore its many natural treasures. It is the birthplace of King Kamehameha, the uniter of the Hawaiian Islands. You can visit the ancient heiaus (temples) of Puukohala and Mookini as well as the old fishing village of Lapakahi.
Further north, Keokea Beach Park is less than 7 miles away. Just another mile at the end of the road is PololuValley where you'll want to hike down to the black sand beach.
